Discussion paper
The discussion paper was released on 26 October 2012. It outlines the Authority’s preliminary views and draft recommendations on the Renewable Energy Target review.

The discussion paper was updated on 31 October 2012 to correct an error identified by SKM MMA in its modelling calculations. A corrigenda has been issued which outlines the corrections made to the discussion paper.

Issues paper
The Renewable Energy Target review issues paper was released on 20 August 2012.
Submissions closed on 14 September 2012 and around 8700 submissions were received. This includes around 8500 campaign submissions and around 170 non-campaign submissions. Many of the submissions are available to view on our web site. View the submissions.

About the RET review
The Renewable Energy (Electricity) Act 2000(Opens in a new tab/window) requires that reviews include assessment of the:
- operation of the Act and the Renewable Energy Target scheme
- operation of the regulations
- operation of the Renewable Energy (Electricity) (Large-scale Generation Shortfall Charge) Act 2000(Opens in a new tab/window)
- operation of the Renewable Energy (Electricity) (Small-scale Technology Shortfall Charge) Act 2010(Opens in a new tab/window), and
- diversity of renewable energy access.
What is the Renewable Energy Target?
The Renewable Energy Target creates financial incentives to promote the deployment of renewable energy. It operates in two parts, as the Large Renewable Energy Target (LRET) and the Small-Scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES).
