Climate Change Authority invites public input to its Caps and Targets Review

The Climate Change Authority today released an Issues Paper and invited submissions to the Authority’s review of Australia’s targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Setting targets for reducing emissions also involves setting limits – or “caps’ for Australia’s carbon pricing mechanism – which explains the “Caps and Targets” title of this Review.

The Climate Change Authority today released its issues paper on the Renewable Energy Target (RET) for comment - the first step in the Authority's statutory review of the Australian Government's renewable energy scheme.

The RET Review is the first study to be conducted by the Authority, which began operation on 1 July 2012. The Review was completed on 31 December 2012.

Chair of the Climate Change Authority, Bernie Fraser, today announced the process for the Renewable Energy Target (RET) Review, following the first board meeting of the new body.
